How do scars & keloids occur?
Scars can result in many many ways.
It could be through skin problems (chicken pox marks, acne scars);
through accident, or due to surgery (surgery scars). When a scar
occurs, both skin cells and connective tissue cells (fibroblasts)
begin multiplying to repair the damage. The fibroblasts form a
framework upon which the skin cells can migrate and fill in the
wound.
It is the balance between the rate
of replication of fibroblasts versus skin cells that is important
here. If the skin cells do not replicate fast enough and the fibroblasts
replicate too quickly, the result is a dense network of fibroblasts.
This dense network of fibroblasts is not easily penetrated by
the skin cells, so the skin cells have a hard time replacing the
fibroblasts. What results is a dense network of fibroblasts, in
other words a scar!
If the skin cells replicate quickly
and keep up with the fibroblasts, then little scar tissue is formed
and the skin has a more normal appearance after the wound has
healed. This is why scars do not occur as often in younger people
as in older people because the skin cells in younger people replicate
more quickly and fill in the wound with normal skin tissue versus
too many fibroblasts.
With keloids, the fibroblasts continue
to replicate even after the wound is filled in. Thus keloids project
above the surface of the skin and form large mounds of scar tissue.
Certain ethnic groups are prone to forming keloids. Operating
on a keloid usually stimulates more scar tissue to form, so people
with keloids are often told that there is nothing that can be
done to get rid of their keloid(s). This is not true. Check out
Natur E to find out how you can get rid of both scars and keloids.

Cracked Skin is also a form of Scar
If you have dry cracked skin (eg.
cracked heels or cracked feet), you have a common ailment scar
due to dry skin. While having dry, cracked skin is not dangerous,
it can feel painful, and if the cracking starts to bleed, it can
lead to infection – an especially serious problem for anyone with
a chronic disease such as diabetes, or a lowered immune system
due to age or illness.
Cracked heels are often called heel
fissures. Cracked heels are very common. They can be painful,
unattractive, and very upsetting especially to those of us who
love sandals. These are commonly caused by dry skin and made more
complicated if skin around the rim of heel is thick. The skin
looks course and cracked and when dirt gets into the fissures
it is embarrassing when your heels are exposed.
Cracked skin resemble scars. They
affect the epidermis layers. Usually it is not painful and deep,
but sometimes it becomes deeper and bleeds. Then they form a wound
and hurts. Then it needs special attention to be given. Appearances
of cracked skin also indicate zinc and omega-3 fatty acid deficiency.
Adverse psychological effect of
Scar Marks
The most damage scars can do to
you would be your self esteem. How often, when you look at yourself
in the mirror, you wish your skin is smooth and unblemished? Instead,
you dread to see yourself and the dark streaks of scars on skin
that was once beautiful and smooth. Is there hope for such scars?
Can you reduce or even rid yourself of scars within a short time?
You can if you act now!
Studies
have shown most people have scars - it's a question of how visible
they are. Studies have shown that visible scars
causes insecurity among both men & women. It may affect their
self esteem, affect their work and even maybe their family.
You don't have to leave
with these scar marks? Every person is unique and skin
grows at different rates, causing some people to suffer from scar
marks more severely than others.
